Romans 1:3–4
What is the true essence of the gospel? Is it a man-made invention or a divine revelation?
These questions beckon us to explore the message of Romans, which unveils the gospel of God through the sacred scriptures. At its core, this gospel revolves around the figure of Christ, who transcends mere humanity and holds the pivotal role in this narrative.
In the words of Romans 1:3–4, we encounter a powerful declaration: “concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead.” This passage illuminates the origins of the gospel, tracing it back to the divine source itself. The God of the Bible stands as the ultimate authority behind this message, a testament to its profound significance.
Within the heart of this gospel resides a man who is more than just a mortal being. Born as a descendant of David, he carries the weight of his lineage, but there is something more that sets him apart. He is not merely an ordinary man but a divine figure, he is also David’s Lord.
In his earthly existence, he walked among us, shrouded in relative obscurity, until his true identity was unveiled through the miraculous event of resurrection. Through this triumphant act, the Spirit of Holiness bore witness to his divine nature, revealing it to the world.
As we immerse ourselves in the gospel of Romans, we are invited to fix our gaze upon the central figure of this narrative — Christ himself. In Him, we discover the embodiment of the Son of God, encapsulating the very essence of divinity.
He is the focal point, the guiding light that illuminates the path to salvation and redemption. To truly grasp the depth and significance of the gospel, we must behold him for who He truly is.
